Bid Writing for Tiling Contractor

Bid Writing for Tiling Contractor

This case study outlines how CBC helped a nationwide Tiling Contractor to be appointed to a strategic multi-party framework and win subsequent contract.

Client: Tiling Contractor
Client's employer industry: Local County Council
Client contract: Multi-party Framework Agreement for Commercial Tiling
Client contract value: Several million euro plus contracts opportunities
Scope of works: Bid Writing Services

CBC were approached by a tiling company to help them prepare a submission for a Framework for commercial tiling services. The company was extremely experienced in delivering these services but had never submitted a Public Sector tender before.

We assigned a Bid Consultant with significant experience in Public Sector tendering who was able to walk them through the Pass/Fail requirements of the Request for Tender (RFT), to ensure they were in a position to submit a compliant bid.  Once this capacity was established, we provided a detailed list of requirements which had to be addressed, and assigned responsibility for these.  We worked closely with the Client to steadily build their response and to ensure the most appropriate case studies were submitted, which demonstrated their expertise in delivering these services.

The Client was successful in being appointed to the Framework and within weeks, the first contract opportunity was published.  The Client approached us again for assistance, and in reviewing the Invitation to Tender (ITT), it became apparent that the Client would be required to act as the main contractor if they wished to submit a bid.  We were able to provide support in ensuring the PSCS requirements were addressed and budgeted for.

We worked closely with their Operations Manager to develop high scoring responses to the technical questions which included A. Proposed Programme, B. Methodology, Effective Management & Communication, C. Resource of the Project, D. Contract Management Proposals and E. Risks to the Successful Delivery of the Project.  In developing the responses, we ensured that particular attention was paid to the sections with the highest marks available.

The result was a winning submission with the client advising us that this change in direction has provided stability in uncertain times and that they would have no hesitation in responding to Public Sector tenders in the future.

Added Value
By ensuring each response was written to the highest quality, the client will be able to reuse the responses to populate their tender library for future bids. In addition, CBC created a range of new supporting documents which can now be used for day to day supplier questionnaires, as well as future tender submissions.
